The 3rd mid-year review

03/07/2007 · The 3rd mid-year review for the EU VITAL project took place on 3rd and 4th July at the Volvo Aero Corporation in Trollhättan (Sweden).

During the two-day-event the VITAL project leaders and support teams for sub-projects and work packages presented their achievements and were reviewed by a board of VITAL Technology advisors and EC Reviewers.
More than 30 persons participated in this review whose main conclusions were that significant progress has been made up to now. New materials have been successfully characterised with very promising results. The test plans, rigs and prototype designs have been drawn up, and the manufacturing and assembly of parts is well advanced.
A detailed work schedule for the next and last 18 months of the project has been checked. Several major tests will start in the second half of 2007 (Fans, Boosters, Turbines etc.) and should be completed before the Autumn of 2008. Then a final integration and assessment of VITAL technologies will be implemented, along with the organisation of a scientific workshop (including conferences and an exhibition) for the dissemination of VITAL results.
